our baby boy woke up (early!) in a great mood and was a very good patient; however, he was very opposed to the idea of wearing the little blue gown they gave us...so he won that battle and got to stay in his p.j.'s:) good thing i had some socks in the diaper bag!

and here he is pre-op maxin' and relaxin' after they gave him his dose of the "goofy juice". waiting to go back to surgery (notice the sleeve!) the sweet anesthesiologist, sam, was the same one that gave me my epidural when i had will, and she was wonderful...small world! she took him back to surgery, so that made me feel a little better! he was only gone about 15 minutes and then we spent a
long 45 minutes in recovery, where he wouldn't stop screaming and crying. the dr. said that is normal...because of a combination of things: feeling strange from the anesthesia, hearing better immediately (which scares them at first), being hungry and in a strange place, etc. but that it was not because of pain. good to know:) they wanted him to drink before we could leave, and he was so mad at the world that he refused...he just kept motioning to the door...he was ready to get out of there and he was for real! he was the first one out of surgery and about every 5 minutes after that, another screaming kid would come back to their parents in pre-op. i felt so sorry for the parents and kids who were just entering pre-op at that time...I might have freaked out if it was me! it was total chaos, and of course my child was the last one standing...don't know where he gets that stubborn streak! once we got home, he was fine. fast forward after a 3.5 hour nap and a yummy pb&j and he was ready to play outside...good (or better) as new! thanks to everyone for their sweet comments and prayers...God is good!

(if you notice the mark by his ear, it's just ink...for some reason, the surgery center makes the doctor initial the ears...guess that's so they know not to amputate a leg or anything...scary!)

Tubes are amazing! Miles and Jonas both had them. I hated the post op with both boys. They both screamed for a long time too! I could actually hear Jonas in the waiting room before they ever called us back. I am glad all went well.
I'm so glad tubes went well for you guys. I forgot about the "goofy juice". I asked the pedi if I could get some to take home with me and he looked at me a little weird...but wouldn't it be great to have a little of that for those "crazy" days?
