ice, ice baby...

so here's the view from our porch earlier today...now it's much worse, plus snow. our neighborhood has (had) gorgeous maple trees lining all the streets...and the park in the center of the hood...with huge oak trees, as well. a neighbor told us that damage to the trees is extensive...haven't seen it for ourselves yet. what a bummer. i am not a fan of ice storms (and we won't even talk about the ice storm of 2000.)

afraid our poor peach tree is a goner...i'm so sad:(

this is why i didn't venture off the porch...

and then i got even smarter and took pics from inside...ha.

can i just say how extremely grateful i am for electricity?!!! funny how much i take it for granted until times like these. thank you Lord for your daily provisions i overlook...we are so very blessed. our power has blinked tons of times but only went out for a 45 minute span...so far. we have the flashlights and candles ready in case it goes out for good. we've been like one big charging station...phones, flashlights, the pump for the air mattress, should we have to camp out by the fireplace. will's been so funny...whenever the power goes off for a few seconds and comes back on, he blinks very dramatically...like he thinks that's what happened...he just did a really big blink and that's why his world went dark...love it!

This DW from Chapters...had to comment because of your title! We actually saw Vanilla Icem(or whatever his real name is?) in the airport this weekend. Your title really grabbed my attentions with our recent encounter!

Hey Elaine, It was so fun hanging out with you guys tonight. I can't wait to do that again. You made me laugh with this post. Your porch did look dangerous.
