one year check up...

10.14.10 - emma kate had her 1 year well visit with dr. p and everything looked great! praise the Lord for happy and healthy kiddos! poor baby girl did have to get 5 shots (yes, FIVE!) it would normally be 4, but she needed a flu shot and dr. p said the sooner, the better:( she was a champ for the flu shot in her arm, and then the nurses tag teamed the other 4...two in each leg...and that's when she boo hooed. i have to say that they are wonderful and super quick about it, but this was the first time that daddy wasn't there and i had to hold her little arms across her chest. those little eyes looked at me like, momma how could you? break my heart. note to self: don't make appts. involving shots on my birthday ever again! she was a little pitiful the rest of the day and woke up a few times during the night, but woke up good as new the next morning. whew.
her stats were right on track for her: weight: 19 lbs, 9 oz - 25%, height 30" - 65%

emma kate, here's what you are up to at one year old:

• not so much loving the whole milk...right now we are half formula, half whole milk...we're working on it
• you still drink 4 8oz. bottles a day
• you love any table food...the only thing you've refused so far is scrambled eggs!
• you love to drink out of a cup and do it very well;)
• you sleep through the night and you're momma and daddy cannot thank you enough! (because your brother still doesn't:(
• you love your monkey, mo-mo!
• you give the sweetest sugars and know how to blow kisses, too!
• you took your first steps on gram's birthday (10.08) and the most you've done so far is about 10 at one time. you are walking more and more, but still drop down to crawl because you can get there faster...fastest crawler ever!
• you clap, wave, motorboat and make the funniest faces
• you love to dance...and always move to the beat when you hear music...cutest ever!
• you love will's rocking chair...it can keep you entertained for a good 20 minutes
• you will randomly say "may-may" (macy) and head to look out the window or the back door to watch the dogs...you love them both!
• you love to read books...you will pull a bunch off of your bookshelf and sit in the pile of books and just read away...you can turn the pages of your board books very well:)
• i finally moved the barricades that kept you in the living room and now you pretty much have free reign of the house (besides the doors we keep closed!) and you are loving exploring everything and everywhere! your favorite thing to get into is my china cabinet...still waiting on daddy to childproof it for me!
