will and mrs. virginia or "mrs. ginia", as he called her:)

my big boy!

raising his hand when she called his name...ready to get his certificate!

yes, i admit...i bribed my child during swim lessons. ahem. the week started out a little rough, and he was super impressed with the "rockets" in the toy basket at the end of class...so i told him if he listened and did what his teachers asked, he would get his very own at the end of the week. well earned, sweet boy! here he is about to test out his new rocket at our pool:)

and these have nothing to do with swim ranch...i just couldn't resist:) getting changed into her dry clothes for the bike ride home!

07.12-07.16.10 - will's first swim lessons! we headed to swim ranch each morning from 9-10 and he did really well overall! he wasn't so sure at first, but did good the first day. we had a minor meltdown the second day (insert bribe here) and from there on out, i was pretty amazed! he loved mrs. virginia and got to be her helper several times to demonstrate how to do things for the class...he was so proud:) he would do anything she asked. however...when her helper, miss brooke was the one working with him...for.get. it. i don't know what it was...but he did not like her and nothing i could say or do was going to change his mind. mrs. virginia = total cooperation. miss brooke...not so much. so on the last day when they were about to doggie paddle by themselves across the pool, i had to switch with another mom to make sure he was on mrs. virginia's side. otherwise, he wouldn't have done it. it would have been o.v.e.r. he did like miss brooke well enough to make sure he got his cookie from her at the end of each class. what a toot.
overall, it FAR exceeded my expectations! he learned to front kick, back float, shallow jump, kickboard kick, climb in-out of the pool and dog paddle. my big boy is a little fish in the water now...comfortable and confident...yay! the week after, he started going under water all the time in our neighborhood pool...like it was no big deal. thank you, mrs. virginia!

So proud Will did good in his swimming lessons. The way he likes the water he definitely needed that.
Wm, Gram has told you how proud I am of you for learning how to swim. I think it is very important and I am so glad your Momma took you. Also glad to hear that you were a good boy for Mrs. Ginia. love, gram
